DNA testing for Von Willebrand’s disease, Hereditary Necrotising Myopathy, Polymyositis and the Genotyping for Fit2breed, will from now on be performed by Van Haeringen Laboratories (VHL) in collaboration with the Expertise Centre Veterinary Medicine Utrecht.
The tests can be done with a buccal (cheek) swab, a blood sample is no longer needed.
However, for sampling you will have to visit an authorised veterinarian, because of the microchip identification check.
There are also options to have a sample taken on club events, saving you the vet fee. So keep an eye on the Events page.
Members of the Association can receive subsidies for DNA research and genotyping. See Subsidy arrangement.
Application via Expertise Centre Utrecht
We urgently ask you to apply for the tests via the Expertise Centre Utrecht. This way, the confirmations for sharing the results with Fit2breed are secured. Also, many different tests are offered, and this link will take you directly to the relevant tests for the Kooikerhondje.
DNA tests can be requested through the Expertise Centre Utrecht University Animal Hospital | Healthy Breeding.

The VHNK advises breeders and owners to choose A1: the combi Kooiker package. With this, all DNA tests including genotyping are done at once.
Potential other research on hereditary disorders for the benefit of science
(not necessary to comply with the breeding regulations)
It is possible to store DNA material from your dog through a blood sample. This can be done via the Expertise Centre Utrecht:

Handling of the test results
The results of the DNA tests carried out by VHL are included in Fit2breed. Through Fit2breed, results are shared with the VHNK, which will use them to update the ZooEasy database. If you want to find the data in ZooEasy sooner, you should send the results to clubregister@kooikerhondje.nl
